BACKGROUND CHECK FAQS
If a volunteer has a Background Check (BC) on file in the Superintendent's office from volunteering last summer, should they complete another?
It is not necessary, as the break in service was only due to the end of the season. As long as they volunteered for summer band last year, and do so again this year, then that would be considered a continuation of the same duty.
If a volunteer has a BC on file for another school activity (other than band), do they need to complete another BC?
It is not necessary to complete another BC if one is already on file with the Superintendent's office. If the volunteer duty required that your BC is on file with the Community Education office, you would need to request that a copy be shared to the Superintendent's office.
If a volunteer has had a BC for an activity that is not sponsored by the school, do they need to complete another BC?
In this case, since the BC is not on file within the school district, it would be necessary
to complete a form, pay the fee, and submit to the Superintendent's
office, so a BC can be completed prior to the start of volunteer duties.
